In 2023, we have three winners!  Congratulations to our winners and excellent presentations the recipients made at the Annual Meeting on September 23, 2023.

The 2023 grants were awarded to:

1)  Jill Holt, member of Ohio Quilts of Valor and Gathering of Quilters (Toledo)

Ohio Quilts of Valor was established in 2008 with a mission to "cover all our warriors and combat veterans who have been touched by war or wounded with our comforting Quilts of Valor".  In 2022, they presented 20 quilts to a neighborhood group of Vietnam Vets.  They also presented 20 quilts to a local women vet group and 50 quilts to veterans after their Honor Flight Tour of DC.

They are requesting the grant to purchase fabric, batting and backing for making large lap quilts to donate to veterans.

2)  Shannon Bartlett and Westerville Quilt Guild

The Westerville Quilt Guild was founded in 2005 to provide a community for quilters in the Westerville area.  Some of their past projects include:   Quilts for My Very Own Blanket; pillowcases for WARM, Children's Hospital and Maryhaven; Trama Quilts and Fidget Quilts; Quilts of Honor and Gold Star Families.

They are requesting the grant to make cot size quilts and pillowcases for Flying Horse Farms.  Their goal is to donate 25 quilts and 50 pillowcases in 2023.  Grant money will be used to help defray rental expenses for sew-in and workshops, buy batting and backing fabric and procure long arm quilting services.

3)  Mary Kirkish and Connecting Threads

Connecting Threads is a group of individuals who have been meeting monthly at the Powell UM Church in Powell for over 16 years.  They were a grant winner last year.

They are requesting the grant money to continue with last year's project of making isolette quilted covers for OSU NICU.
