-- March 21 - NATIONAL QUILTING DAY - Always the third Saturday in March. The National Quilting Association Board designated it as a holiday in 1991, first celebrated in 1992, based on Quilters Day Out idea from Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society. A day to celebrate quilts and quiltmakers, past, present, and future. Whether you participate in a group activity or spend the day at home sewing, take a few minutes to reflect on the role quilts play in your life. Although in recent years there is a lot of focus on the day for businesses to have a sale, and NQA is long gone, the goal of a day celebrating quilts worldwide is still the point. Weather permitting, hang a quilt outside to wave at your neighbors!
